This is not a post about a new certification, job change, or a leadership "lesson" slide deck. As we head into Thanksgiving week, this is a post of pure gratitude — a thank you to the many people who contribute to everyday success, directly and indirectly.
This entire journey started with a simple, personal need: finding a structured way to connect with my son, build his confidence through movement, and enjoy the healing power of the outdoors. When I reached out to a few fellow parents, the response was immediate and overwhelming — they didn't just join, they jumped in.
The Numbers Tell a Story
The final metrics are in for the 2025 Pathfinder Program — 10 hikes for neurodivergent youth across the greater Charlotte, NC area — and the most compelling data point isn't about mileage. It's about engagement and agency.
This program was founded on the principle that success looks different for every individual. We created structured, progressive hiking experiences for neurodivergent youth, starting with short, highly predictable trails and building upward.

Endurance Growth: We observed measurable gains in physical stamina and comfort on varied terrain, progressing from 30-minute easy walks to multi-hour endurance hikes.
Agency and Confidence: The shift from coping to anticipating — from simply enduring the walk to leading the pack — is a true measure of acquired confidence and self-regulation.
Community Impact: There is immense professional satisfaction in facilitating a positive, shared outcome. The most profound metric is the social return on investment: the heartfelt appreciation of fellow parents and the genuine, unreserved joy from the young Pathfinders. Nothing beats sharing in that success.
